How to Delete a Contact on Messenger

This minHour teaches you how to set your Messenger to ignore all the messages from a selected contact. Ignoring a user will remove the conversation thread from your inbox, and block all message notifications from them in the future. Ignored users can still send you messages, but they won't show up in your inbox.

On Mobile

Open the Messenger app on your phone or tablet.

The Messenger icon looks like a blue speech balloon with a white thunderbolt in it. You can find it on your home screen or your Apps menu.

  • If you aren’t already logged in to Messenger, enter your email address or phone number, and password before continuing.

Find and tap the contact you want to block.

Scroll down your messages, and tap the contact you want to delete from your mailbox. This will open your conversation thread with the selected contact.

  • You can also use the Search bar at the top.
  • If Messenger opens up to a conversation with a contact you’d like to keep, tap the {“smallUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images/1/11/Android7expandleft.png”,”bigUrl”:”/images/thumb/1/11/Android7expandleft.png/30px-Android7expandleft.png”,”smallWidth”:460,”smallHeight”:460,”bigWidth”:30,”bigHeight”:30,”licensing”:”
